Sun Valley Resort’s restaurants—The Ram and The Roundhouse—have been awarded the prestigious Wine Spectator “Award of Excellence.”

The award recognizes restaurants with wine offerings from quality producers that match their menu at both style and price.

“Wine Spectator,” considered to be the authority in the industry, awarded the respected certification to just nine restaurants in Idaho. In addition to Sun Valley’s the magazine honored one restaurant in Ketchum, three in Boise, one in Eagle and one in McCall.

The magazine, which paid tribute to honorees representing all 50 states and more than 75 countries,  awarded certifications to 2,453 restaurants this year.

The magazine said The Ram offers a selection of 130 wines from California and France at moderate prices. The Roundhouse offers 100 selections from California at moderate prices to go with its American and regional cuisine.

“We are honored to be recognized by such a renowned wine publication, highlighting our extensive wine cellar,” said Michelle LeMarr, Sun Valley Resort’s sommelier and beverage manager. “We strive provide the best guest experience with our menu and wine selections so this designation by Wine Spectator confirms our dedication to it.”

The Ram and Roundhouse are both historic dining establishments. The Ram opened in 1937 and was completely remodeled in 2017 with a rustic yet elegant feel that maintained its historic flavor. The Roundhouse opened on Bald Mountain a couple years later, offering spectacular views of Ketchum and Sun Valley from its 7,700-foot perch.
